Disaster Relief & Preparedness
Preparedness protects what matters most - lives, livelihoods, and hope.
When we invest in systems and communities before disaster strikes, we build resilience that saves lives and accelerates recovery.
At Higherlife Foundation, we build the systems, infrastructure, and local capacity needed to anticipate, withstand, and recover from crises.
Working with the Government of Zimbabwe, humanitarian partners, and communities, we strengthen national coordination and community preparedness - ensuring that when disasters occur, lives are protected and recovery is swift.

Preparedness
We believe that readiness saves lives and resilience sustains them.
Our Work
Emergency
Operations Centres
We strengthen Zimbabwe’s disaster response by investing in national coordination infrastructure.
Through a US$6 million investment, we built and equipped two national Emergency Operations Centres — the Public Health EOC (PHEOC) and the National EOC (NEOC) — which serve as command hubs for managing public health and national emergencies.

Together, these centres enhance coordination, accelerate response, and will protect over 16 million people across Zimbabwe.

Preparedness
Our Work
Education &
Capacity Building
Resilience begins in communities.
Through training programmes and simulation exercises, we help local leaders, teachers, and students recognise risks and act quickly in times of crisis.
To date, over 2 million people in disaster-prone areas have been trained in disaster preparedness and response, creating stronger, more informed communities across Zimbabwe.
Emergency
Operations Centers
Coordinating national action to protect lives in every crisis.
When disasters strike, effective coordination is the difference between containment and catastrophe.
In past crises such as Cyclone Idai, gaps in communication and fragmented response structures slowed emergency efforts, leaving communities more vulnerable.
Community Education &
Capacity Building
Empowering people to act before disaster strikes.
Communities are often the first to experience the effects of disaster - and the first to respond.
Yet many local leaders, teachers, and volunteers lack the training and tools needed to act quickly and confidently when emergencies arise.
